If it wasn't hard everyone would do it.
This has been my motto lately as I click off my workouts. I have another mantra that I repeat each time I rise. It goes "I will feel better", "I will feel better".. These mantras help me when I'm not feeling so energized and I have training to do.
Since I am on vacation, this week of training is in P-Town. It's a blissfull week of getting all the sleep I need while getting in my workouts as early as possible without putting in too much effort to get up early. Only to reward myself with a day at the beach, iced coffee, chocolate, time with friends, whatever it is I desire.
Sounds good right? Well I'll let you in on a little secret.. IT'S HARD. I know you must think, oh shut up.. but let me tell you. The Cape is hotter. Usually 80 degrees. There is a head wind. Always. On the bike, run, and swim. The swim is more of a current wind. AND, it's hilly. There are only two roads that go far and long. One is full of people 95% of the time and the other is completely hilly. Up down up down. Oh yes, lastly, there is no shade. So you better bring a hat.
Today was a monster workout however. 15 miles with 5 miles built in at next race pace or HIM pace. Eeek.. It went well. I am now very tired. I was affraid of this workout. I did what I could. That turned out to be tempo pace for the 5 miles. That's good enough for me. Now, I think I'll be a lug and lounge around all day...
