Rest Is Good

Rest is good for the sole AND the competitive spirit. Each day that I am not on a serious plan I feel this growing need to reach higher than before and to get on a serious plan. I want to train for the half ironman and the marathon.. Isn't that crazy? I'm not sure how I will go about it. I want to go after whatever it is that comes to mind. And this is what comes to mind for the following year. Hmm ... need a coach, a really good one..

It Ain't Over Till It's Over

OK, it's only been a couple of days since I lamented about taking time of. So I am now feeling, well, good. I had a great run with Jeff W. this morning.. 6 miles at 8:30 average. A decent pace for someone who hasn't been training very hard. I have also been taking good care of my health. Lost 3 pounds Cut hair really short (maybe not health related by should make me go faster ;) Started doing weights and core exercises a few weeks ago Chiropractic Adjustments since June 1st Sooo, today I'm feeling like I want to do the Dover/Sherborn Tri in September. It's short enough where I could get in the biking and swimming during the week while at home. I will give it the weekend to decide and if I'm still inspired I will sign up next week.

I thought that by giving myself some nice summer time off from any racing commitments I would feel relaxed and happy but instead I find myself very paranoid and worried. The way I felt in this photo while being taught how to drive the dinghy by captain Dan in BVI . I'm worried I am changing into a non-competitive, couch potato like person. Someone that I never saw myself being. The kind of person who doesn't get excited about improving upon their PRs or getting in the best shape they possibly can. It's hard not having a plan. I'm not used to this. I've had some plan or another for the past 10 years in a row. I may have taken a week at the most off but not two months. This is killing me. At the same time I'm not even sure of what I want to plan for when I finally do allow myself to plan for another event. I'm hoping something will spark my interest and get me all excited and motivated. I keep thinking how fun it would be to train for a TRI but the winter...

We have arrived

Shortly after 2:30 PM I went to see Dr. Marc, my chiropractor to get adjusted. Since I was about to sit in the car for 3 hours I was very glad I made the effort to get in one last appointment before vacation. We just got settled into our vacation spot for the next 5 nights. It's absolutely lovely here. So quiet you can hear the birds and the wind rustling through the trees. The doors are open to the deck which lets in the fresh air. Kathy came in with a bundle of healthy food so I cut up a tun of fresh fruit to snack on. We are trying to eat very healthy EVEN while on vacation. I love P-town because it has so much to offer. If you want some fun and action in P-town all you have to do is walk 10 minutes to town. GREAT shopping, a wine bar, dancing, museums, candy stores, fudge stores, and several restaurant to choose from. Our favorite is the Red Inn and we have a reservation there for Friday night. But the best part of P-town is Herring Cove beach. We will spend alot of time there ...

Changing Gears

I have suddenly realized that I will not complete all the goals I have set forth for this summer. It doesn't matter why. I just know it's so. Part of me wants to puke while writing this. Part of me is sad and mournful of saying goodbye to my newly found love, triathlon, until next year. Part of me is glad and feeling relieved of the stress I was bringing upon myself. Another part of me is feeling exhilarated with the freedom I have given myself. I am not sick. I am not having any problems with my relationships or work life. The truth is I want to enjoy the two short months of July and August. I don't want to spend two days in a car or ride my bike on the highway or swim in the ocean all by myself. These are the elements of training I would be facing in July and August due to my vacation schedule. [It's] just not worth it right now. I'm taking advantage of this time to reflect and to change things up a bit. I have let go of my coach of three years. I'll coach mys...
