Results Analysis

I screwed up royally on T1. Over 5 minutes is gross. I would have gotten 3rd place easily if my time was less by only a minute. It really should have been less by about 3 minutes. If I kept the same strategy as the last tri it would have been a lot less. Huge lesson learned. My run time was the fastest OVERALL!! That makes me very happy. There is just so much work to do on my swimming.

Dover Sprint Tri Race Report!

I just finished stacking a cord and a half of wood right after the race. My back is aching from the wood pile not the race. I THINK it went very well. Here are the numbers. My overall time was 1:27:48. The results said I was third in my age group, 14th OA but they must have made a mistake because they gave the award to someone else. I hate when that happens but what are you gonna do. Keep smiling? Ya, that's right. Swim .25 miles, time 8:24 In June I swam a mile in 37:00. I think that means that this race was an improvement. Hooray for that! I thought I was going like a bat out of hell but alas, maybe not that fast. I felt REALLY GOOD on the swim and I actually really enjoyed that part of the race. I think I could have done better at spotting. I veered off course twice. That could be good for 20 seconds I suppose. This was the first time I pushed the pace on the swim and actually felt like it was a race. T1: 5:59. Before anyone pukes I need to tell you that there was a jog of abo...

We are ready! #165

Tomorrow is the Dover Sprint Tri. I have gone over everything I could possibly think of to prepare myself and my equipment to the best of my ability. It is suppose to be only 50 in the morning but the water will be 70 degrees. Should make for an interesting transition to the bike. :) My nerves were getting to me this morning but now that I have gone over everything in my mind a couple of times and I am more relaxed. As a matter of fact I can't wait to hit the hey. Going to Bertucci's at 6 for some pasta and red sauce. Then it's home to watch TV with Fergie. Kathy is away until 10:pm at her sister Karen's bachelorette/bachelor party. She will hopefully have some energy left to get up at 5:30 am to eat, haver coffee, then to drive me to Farm pond at 6:30-6:45ish to drop off my bike. The logistics of this race a little weird. You have to drop your bike off, drive back to the shuttle, set up your bike/run transition then be shuttled back to the pond to start the swim. I hav...

Nothing Really

Continuing with my triathlon training. I'm gearing up for the Dover Tri this weekend in my own town. Can't wait to see how I do. After this tri I will be training for the Bay State Half marathon. I'm really looking forward to running a bit more.

Ollie Race Report!

I love this race because since it's a USATF Championship you really get to see where you stand in the pecking order for most of Massachusetts. Met up at Vellos at 8:15 am. We all piled into Tracey's van, thanks Tracey. We gave Maureen L. a bunch of "sh_ _ " because there is a "race" for the grand Prix http://www.greaternorwoodrunners.org/standings.htm prize within our club and some people were banking on her not being there. She was a good sport about the harassment. The weather was, to say the least, oppressive. The humidity must have been 100%. I think the results should actually post the degrees and humidity for each race because sometimes this can really effect the results. Most of us lined up right up front. We then did a little GNRC team shout with hands piled on top of each others which was kinda goofy. This made us all laugh pretty hard at how ridiculous we must have looked. Way to easy the tension! Tracey, Maureen, Angie, Melissa B, Melissa C., Dan...

Hmmmm

OK, I only had to run 2 miles today. I don't think I have ever run just 2 miles. Maybe as a cool down but not as a scheduled taper run. I have always run at least 3, I'm pretty sure. BUT who's complaining? NOT ME! I'm happy to not only run just 2 miles today but have taken an additional day off from all sporting activities yesterday. This is part of my new coach's plan for my race tomorrow. She must have realized that we 40somethings need extra rest. Hey, I'll take it! I don't care if she thinks I'm old at 43. I think I'm old. :) Tomorrow's race is a 5 miler. I have not raced once since, mmmmmm, June? Good grief I hope it's not tooooo painful. Regardless of how I do I will always be glad I ran it. I have never ever regretted running a race. It will also be interesting to see if I was able to maintain my short distance speed over the summer. Even though I didn't race I maintained at least one speed workout most weeks. I am about to end my ...
