45

Yikes. I've aged up. I'm OK with it. Not a big deal really. Currently, I'm more concerned with learning all these new strength and core exercises Jen handed out. I'm also entrenched in marathon training right now. So, I have bigger and better things to think about rather than dwell on the fact that I'm exactly midlife.

So last weekend I danced my ass off all night long. Again. I recently danced this long at Roses party a couple of months ago. I think I want to go dancing once every two months. I just love it and think it should be an integral part of my life. Here's a nice photo of me dancing to Lady GaGa with my niece Alissa last weekend. She's my oldest of 14 nieces and nephews. I was so happy to see her looking healthy and happy.

My training is going well. I’m on a 3 week hard, 1 week easy plan. I told Jen that, because I'm on that second half of life, I need more rest to recover. It's just a fact of life. Sleep is a drug to me. I crave it as does my body. This week during training I swam my fastest 300 yet. I checked all my times over the past year and the list went something like this: Jan 2009 6:17, June 2009 6:09, Nov. 2009 5:58, THIS WEEK: 5:32 !!! I was pretty happy and felt like, wow, something is kicking in.

My 20 mile this week was also a key workout. I was really hoping it would go well since my 18 miler last week went less than stellar. I prepared very well for my 20 miler and was very pleased. I am going to try to NAIL my marathon in February. I want to have a PR and if the weather cooperates I believe this will happen.

There is a lot of other stuff going on right now but I won't keep you. Motor on!

OMG, your 300 pace is incredible. Seriously, if you wonder why you blog, it's to inspire girls our age...we're just getting started. Happy Birthday by the way. It truly gets better doesn't it?!
My marathon is Sunday. I'm going to take it as a training run and be strong and steady. At least I get to run, I'm excited. Where is your marathon? Keep at it with your strong training!

Melissa... thanks for stopping by...looks like 2010 is going to be amazing for you....

you asked about the bottle that kinda collapses..
I have never seen it in a store....
It was given to me at a race....

It really does help out alot.
I do however, usually use the bottle with the hand straps.. or even a waist belt with bottle or gels...
take care..have a great day

YOU are going to nail that marathon IS RIGHT. BECAUSE we are doing it in training - the 2/28 race will be like another training day - but hopefully even easier! Happy belated bday again fellow Capricorn! :)

PS Awesome job on the swim times too! :))
