Stop rushing!

I have been rushing certain things within my triathlon training experience.

Since I'm new to triathlon I have found myself with a need to rush! In a rush to find biking partners, to find out everything there is to know about gear, the right things to wear, to plan my spring training etc.... I find my myself basically stressing over these issues week after week.

I have recently realized (after reading a great article from a champion triathlete) that I should not be rushing anything. I need to let things happen naturally and when the time is right. If I rush everything things might not happen the way they are suppose to.

Acknowledging to myself that I've been rushing things has come as a relief to me. I'm going to just keep my nose to the grindstone and let things happen around me while I train very hard. I will, of course, take normal actions towards everyday life but I will not expect anything to happen right away. I have a lot faith in myself and the choices that I make. So, I can be comfortable with how things happen on their own.

This is a good blog, Melissa! One of the things that I see most is that a lot of the beginner triathletes need more patience. Triathlon is an evolution of years of building a huge engine. It is like running, but 3 sports. It will all come, in due time....VERY few can pop into triathlon and win everything. Of course it happens, but each year we build and build and get faster and stronger each year. Keep up the good work!

I'm so not good with patience, but you're right, one needs it when starting this sport.
Aren't we do for a club dinner?
Can we plan one?

Hola Chica: I don't know anything about training for a triathlon. But I know how I'm always stressing myself about my little marathon training. I say relax and breath and read as my blogs for more expirence. Hasta la vista!

Good call! I've never thought of it that way. Best to save the rushing for race day... rushing towards the finish line.

Do you have a link to the article? Either way, I appreciate the food for thought while I try to learn about cycling. Glad to hear that you've gotten some peace of mind!
